Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China in part to protect the Chinese Empire or its prototypical states against intrusions by various nomadic groups or military incursions by various warlike peoples or forces. Several walls had already been begun to be built beginning around the 7th century BC; these, later joined together and made bigger, stronger, and unified are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall. Especially famous is the wall built between 220–206 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. Little of that wall remains. Since then, the Great Wall has on and off been rebuilt, maintained, enhanced; the majority of the existing wall was reconstructed during the Ming Dynasty.

Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, designed by Frédéric Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue, a gift to the United States from the people of France, is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue has become an icon of freedom and of the United States.

Big Ben

Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, and is generally extended to refer to the clock or the clock tower. The clock tower holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world and is the third-tallest free-standing clock tower.It celebrated its 150th anniversary on 31 May 2009, during which celebratory events took place. The tower was completed on 10 April 1858 and has become one of the most important symbols of both London and England, often in films set in the city.

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is located on the Champs de Mars in Paris. It was built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel for the entrance arch in 1889 World's Fair. It is also the tallest monument in Paris since it is 324 m (1,063 ft) high and is also the most paid-visited monument in the world. It was the tallest tower in the world from 1889 to 1930.

The contruction of the Eiffel Tower started in 1887 and was finished in 1889. Three hundred workers joined 18,038 of puddle iron (a very pure form of stucctural iron) and it weighs 7,300 tonnes.
